This untitled photo by David Gallagher shows a couple of guys fishing in McCovey Cove. They used a lure that attracted a seagull, which subsequently got caught in the beak and wing.Luckily, the novice fisherman was able to quickly cut his line and let the gull float away. The bird most likely died. See update below. (Here's what you should do if you find yourself in a similar situation or find a hooked bird.)

Update: According to the photog, "[H]e cut the line and left the lure stuck in the bird. It couldn't fly. It floated away to die."
