A little before 4 a.m. this morning, a fire broke out at 181 Vienna, near John McLaren Park in the Excelsior. Sadly, two elderly men were killed in the blaze. According to SF Appeal, "Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire at 4:11 a.m."
Also, according to the Chronicle, the house was quite possibly similar to one you might see on any episode of Hoarders, saying, "The home was filled with debris and garbage, making it difficult to search the home and put out the fire." Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White noted, "It was a particular challenge because the house was filled with a lot of debris and clutter that literally added fuel to the fire."
Neither of the two men have been identified. While it's not clear what, exactly, fueled the fatal fire, the deaths are "not considered to be suspicious."
