Born in city's Excelsior District, Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia would have been 70-years-old today. And with that, your San Francisco Giants will honor the noted musician with a performance by Moonalice on the field, playing some of the Dead's greatest hits. Best of all, you could score a Jerry Garcia bobblehead if you arrive early enough. (Supplies are limited.)

In other Giants news, former Philadelphia Phillies' power hitter Hunter Pence also makes his SF debut tonight at AT&T Park. We acquired the blue-eyed slugger in exchange for Nate Schierholtz and two minor leaguers.

SFist commenter and noted Giants fan hillarys_new_shoes has more details:

FYI: It's not a traditional "get there early get a bobblehead" event. To get yourself a dreamy Jerry Garcia bobblehead one had to have purchased the "special event" ticket which comes with a voucher. Then the voucher is exchanged for the bobblehead on the concourse level sometime before the 7th inning.

And then, naturally, you trade the bobblehead to a gal wearing no shoes for a big bag of mushrooms and some tasty SBD recordings of some Grateful Dead shows.

Gah! Also, it looks like those special event tickets are now sold out. Double gah!
