Traffic around the Fremont and Folsom Streets in SoMa is a mess this afternoon after two carjacking suspects led Oakland Police on a car chase across the Bay Bridge around 2 p.m. this afternoon. The suspects were reportedly taken in to custody after crashing near that tricky Fremont/Folsom exit off of Interstate 80. AlertSF advises drivers to avoid the area for now.

According to one tipster who observed the action from an office near the Folsom exit, "about 20" police cars were in pursuit of the suspects when they tried to get down to surface roads on Folsom Street. The suspects crashed in to the side of the off-ramp a few times before coming to a halt nearby.
