Friday's massacre during a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" inside a movie theater in a Denver suburb will go down as yet another horrific footnote in American history. These incidents are, for a lack of a stronger word, terrible. Naturally, famous types have been chiming in all morning regarding the shooting, with gestures ranging from sympathetic nods to bristling rage. (Side note: we didn't think FB/Twitter could get more preachy or mansplainy than during national election days, but national tragadies come a close second.) Everyone from Real Housewives and NPR talent to politicians and fictional HBO characters have had something to say. Here are just a few.
Too sad at the moment to comment.

Here's the thing: Gun ownership in America is out of control, and leads to tragedies like today's. Don't like puns? Fine. I don't like guns.

Just seeing that one victim in the Colorado tragedy survived a mall shooting days ago; only to be killed this time inside the movie theater.

Today has served as a shining example of the best and the worst of the news media, all at once.
