A 19-year-old woman with a criminal record was found lying dead in a pool of blood at Oakland's Starlite Motel early this morning. According to Oakland PD, the victim was shot in the face sometime before an acquaintance of hers discovered the body around 3 a.m. Thursday.

Although Oakland Police knew the victim due to her criminal record, they declined to comment on whether or not she was working as a prostitute. The acquaintance, who may or not have been a madame or a pimp or some sort, apparently noticed the door to the room the victim was in had been left open and went in to check on her when she discovered the crime scene. The neighborhood around the hotel at MacArthur Boulevard and 100th Ave has a reputation for violent crime, drugs and prostitution.

The shooting comes after an especially violent weekend in the East Bay, and marks Oakland's third murder in two days. It was Oakland's 63rd homicide of 2012.
