In an official announcement from the Mayor's office today, Ed Lee and Pinterest CEO Ben Silbermann revealed that the latter will be moving his company and its social networking scrapbook service from dull, dreary Palo Alto, up to the buzzing metropolis of San Francisco where it will take its place among the city's twinkling constellation of Web 2.0 stars. More importantly, the Mayor's office revealed that chief mustache himself has been hard at work carefully curating his very own Pinterest page. What it lacks in carefully staged photos of cupcakes and living room interiors, it definitely makes up for in schlocky advertisements and Chamber of Commerce-approved tourism photography.

Take the Mayor's SF Sports board, for example: While the Mayor's intern in charge of this thing managed to find at least one Niners logo to post, his pinterest (barf, sorry) in your San Francisco Giants seems limited to a promotional photo commemorating Matt Cain's perfect game that looks like it belongs on a plate printed by the Franklin Mint. The rest of the Mayor's sports-themed entries, meanwhile, are renderings of the forthcoming Warriors Arena, a couple of Oracle's shots of America's Cup boats out on the Bay and a photo of a golf course stolen from SFGate.com.

Across the other two boards of material Mayor Lee and company deemed worthy of "pinning" to some arbitrary bulletin boarding floating around in the Internet netherworld, we counted half a dozen photos of the Painted Ladies and at least as many posts noting San Francisco had won some imaginary award or another. (Did you know the city was awarded Zipcar's first ever "Future Metropolis Award"? We did not, because of how that seems like something they just made up.)

Anyhow, if your Pinterest feed (Is that how Pinterest works? Please advise.) is in need of some more photos of the Golden Gate Bridge or that sign with the crab down at Fisherman's Wharf, or you just want to keep abreast of all of the accolades the city is picking up, you can follow Mayor Lee's pinterest boards right over here. Pinterest itself, meanwhile, can be visited just as soon as they finalize their long-term plans for a new SoMa HQ.
