Uptown Almanac's Kevin Montgomery attended his first eviction party last week. Some of you might recall the bratty eviction parties from the days of yore (or as recently as 2010) where entitled twentysomethings or misguided anarchists would vandalize rented flats after being evicted for sales account executives at Kozmo. Good times. But, according to Montgomery, the eviction party of 2012 is a comparatively somber affair.
He writes:
"I invited myself into the party, hoping to catch someone light the first match, or at least take a swing of the sledgehammer of 'fuck yous.' But there was no retributive property destruction, just melancholy and boxed belongings. Not much of an eviction party, at least in the eyes of a kid who spent his youth burning matchbooks for fun."
And the note — which seems a tad overwrought; the landlord must have had his or her just reasons for eviction — is above for your reading pleasure. Hope the tenants in question find a new place soon.
