Blessed be the July 4th week news dump. Let's see, so far we've got TomKat and aliens, Anderson Cooper (finally!) coming out as gay, and now we have news that the fine folks at Facebook have added adorable little same-sex marriage icons for your timeline. It all began over the weekend after Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes got hitched to his longtime boyfriend, Sean Eldridge. When Hughes updated to Facebook profile to note his nuptials, a new "cake topper" icon for same-sex couples also appeared on his timeline.
This comes on the heels of Facebook adding "In a Civil Union" and "In a Domestic Partnership" options to profiles in February 2011. Last month, the tech mammoth was also the first social media company bestowed with an award from the celebrity-loving folks over at the GLAAD.
