Yesterday afternoon, in the treacherous no-man's-land beneath the freeway on 13th Street, a 45-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a large truck. The truck driver was making a right turn on to 13th Street from Folsom when the victim was run over.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but he later succumbed to his injuries. Investigators are still looking in to whether the man was in the crosswalk when the collision occurred, but the truck driver reportedly stopped immediately and cooperated with the police.

Update: The Chronicle is now reporting that the victim was 47-year-old Sena Putra who recently emigrated from Indonesia to Oakland and was working as an accountant for UCSF. Putra was reportedly crossing in the crosswalk on a green light when the gasoline tanker big-rig struck and killed him.
