Proving that there is a better life after local media, former San Francisco Examiner executive editor (and all-around swell human being) Deirdre Hussey has been hired on as Lieutenant Gavin Newsom's deputy chief of staff. She will be in charge of communications, social media, and help with public policy and strategy. Hussey spent a decade at the SF Examiner prior to her new gig with Newsom. (Crankypants commenter Stephen Buel currently mans the paper's editorial voice.)
"Lt. Governor Newsom is a visionary, as we were reminded last week with the announcements regarding gay marriage. He has proposed and implemented public policy in areas such as health care and the environment that has set the national agenda. It is rare opportunity to be part of political team that is innovative and creative,” said Hussey on the appointment.
Congratulations goes out to Hussey. We hope to catch a cameo of her on The Gavin Newsom Show.
