ART: Root Division presents New Growth 2012: Art Taking Shape, an exhibition of artwork made by students and instructors in their Youth Education Program. The opening reception will feature live performances by several Bay Area youth organizations, including Out of Site Center for Arts Education, Cuicacalli Escuela de Danza, The Golden Gate Philharmonic, and a special appearance by The Flat Broke Puppet Company. There will also be free hands-on art activities for the whole family, live screen-printing, face painting, and more. (5 to 8 p.m., Root Division, 3175 17th Street)

BENEFIT: Well, this sounds interesting. At OM Yoga SF Experience, Bay Area vinyasa yoga instructor Elise Lorimer will be mixing yoga with freeform dance and a live musical soundtrack by OM Records’ DJ J Boogie.
