It's a party this week. We're super amped for Washed Out. Morrissey's birthday! Drake is in town. We've got two concerts with tv show connections. Let's do this!

Friday, May 4th

Washed Out at Mezzanine. Our most anticipated show of the week. We can't wait to get our chillwave groove on! What's chillwave? Chillwave is a term coined to describe current indiepop music with an 80's influence using loops, samples, and dance-y beats. You're probably familiar with Washed Out if you've watched any episodes of the tv show Portlandia starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. Washed Out's "Feeling It All Around" is Portlandia's opening theme song.

Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys at Oracle Arena. This is the second leg of their tour and probably your last chance to see these two great bands together.

Monday, May 7th

Drake at Concord Pavillion. Drake's Club Paradise tour hits Concord for it's first US date since being in Europe. We're interested in the "ever evolving" stage Drake has promised. It will change for each act on the bill. Special guests include J. Cole, French Montana, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill and Waka Flocka Flame. Jimmy Brooks from Degrassi: The Next Generation is all grown up!

Tuesday, May 8th

Death Cab For Cutie at Fox Theater. Their most recent release and tour features San Francisco's own Magik*Magik Orchestra. Setlists from this tour show a nice balance between old and new songs spanning their 15 year career. You can spy a setlist here in this trailer at the 0:37 mark. May 8th and 9th are sold out but you can still get tickets for Thursday, May 10th.

Klymaxx at Yoshi's San Francisco.
We like to go back in time to revisit old favorites. We can still recall a summer where we blasted "The Men All Pause" and "Meeting In The Ladies Room" all day long. All day! Cheryl Cooley is the only original band member and is bringing new life and an all new female band to revisit Klymaxx classics.

Every May we celebrate a well known holiday. That's right, Morrissey's birthday. We've got two events this month to let us get our mope on.

Saturday, May 5thLeisure at Cat Club brings us "Cinco De Moz-o." We'll be dancing with ourselves to all of our favorite Britpop classics as well as extra helpings of Smiths and Morrissey songs. What birthday party would be complete without a pinata? A Morrissey pinata will be on hand (perhaps to release our frustration for Morrissey cancelling his last two Bay Area concerts...at the last minute...but who's keeping track?)

Saturday May, 19thSlim's celebrates Morrissey birthday in tribute style starring This Charming Band, San Francisco's premier Smiths tribute band. Joining in the fun is Depeche Mode tribute band For The Masses and Siouxsie and the Banshees tribute band Spellbound. Happy Birthday Mozzer!

June concert alert! We have to say we're a little bit obsessed with Hunx and His Punx. Hunx aka Seth Bogart will be back from touring Europe on June 1st at the New Parish to shower us with tales of heartbreak. More Shannon and the Clams as she opens for Hunx before assuming double duty as a Punkette. Don't miss this show!
