An unhinged 15-year-old attempted to break in to the home of an elderly woman while brandishing a terrifying gardening tool in Half Moon Bay yesterday evening. The kid, who was apparently from two towns North in Moss Beach, broke out basement windows before banging on the front door and reportedly making some threatening motions with a pitchfork.

The woman, who probably shouted something comically old-fashioned like "Good Heavens!", shut the door and called 911. When Sheriff's Deputies arrived to haul the boy off, they found a trail of blood and the broken basement windows. The kid apparently suffered a pretty deep cut while trying to break in the window, but we doubt the old lady had much grand-maternal sympathy for him.

Anyhow, the kid was booked on suspicion of residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer and making criminal threats.
