A 19-year-old male was stabbed multiple times at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Leavenworth Street for no apparent reason. A 32-year-old suspect, who was later arrested and identified as Ernesto Tun-Catzin, walked up to the victim and his friend and challenged him to a fight. An altercation ensued in which the victim was stabbed and his friend was punched. The friend was able to give police a description of the suspect, who was later arrested a few blocks away.

The 19-year-old victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, and remains there.

This marked the first of two stabbings over the weekend, with the second claiming a female victim, who is expected to survive.
