Oakland Mayor Jean Quan spoke out about the mass shooting at Oikos University on Monday. During a news conference, Quan questioned the link between mass shooting sprees and our country's readily available guns, saying: "No american mayor wants to have this situation. it seems that over the last decade, we've gotten used to seeing senseless mass killings like this, and we have to question the availability of guns."
On Monday morning, suspect One Goh allegedly shot 10 people, killing 7, at the East Oakland school. He told police he planned the shooting after being expelled for behavioral problems and for student teasing him over his poor English-language skills.
Recent mass-shooting school suspects Charles Carl Roberts, who killed 5 girls and himself at an Amish schoolhouse in Pennsylvania in October 2006; Seung Hui Cho, who shot and killed 32 people at Virginia Tech in April 2007; and T.J. Lane, who killed 3 student at Chardon High School on February 27, 2012.
