While swirling around some Lady Gaga rumors, lost in a Jean Paul Gautier fervor the city somehow failed to notice the recent arrival of another celebrity type in San Francisco. According to rumor, lovable former trainwreck Mouseketeer Britney Spears and her fiancé Jason Trawick interrupted their "low-key and secret" trip to Northen California with a shopping excursion at the Westfield Centre downtown. The pair, who definitely did not want to be spotted at all (except for when they did), reportedly stayed at the W Hotel's Extreme-Wow Suite*, while Britney had her managers set up meetings with local startups Beautylish.com and Path.

The checkout stand glossies are reporting Ms. Spears fell in love with Beautylish, a "cosmetics and social beauty site", because she "really loves playing around with cosmetics". (Of course she does.) Since she's already got a background in fashion design for discount department stores and fragrances sold at Walgreens it kind of makes sense that the pop star would want to set up some meetings with the site that helps ladies share makeup application and hairstyling tips.

At Path a few weeks back, Britney apparently got a personal tour of the social sharing service from CEO and Entrepreneur Dave Morin. No word yet on if the Toxic chanteuse has any plans to invest in either company, or if she really just wanted to see how the Internet worked in Real Life.

* Sidenote: How is this a real thing at a real hotel designed for grownups?
