We first heard "Somebody That I Used to Know" back around the new year, and it was already a hit on YouTube. But Another Planet Entertainment had underestimated the fame that Australian singer Gotye would have gained by springtime, and hence they've moved a scheduled show at the Independent (heh) to Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, and changed the date as well. Gotye will now be performing, without Kimbra, on April 18, at a venue that is literally 16 times larger, and tickets for that show go on sale March 29.

One of the execs at Another Planet said to the Weekly that he'd "never seen anything like this before," adding, "We've moved a show from the Independent to Mezzanine, or from Mezzanine to the Fox Theater, but certainly never from a 500-capacity venue to an 8,000-capacity venue." Clearly somebody hasn't spent much time on YouTube.

Gotye will be doing SNL on April 14, and would have had to cancel the original April 12 date anyway.
