Last night, local publisher McSweeney's unleashed the third issue of Lucky Peach, their quarterly magazine for tattooed kitchen workers, at a release party in the Mission. The event gathered a sizable crowd of literary-minded foodies under the fire retardant leaves of The Secret Alley's faithfully re-created streetscape.

In addition to the beers from Magnolia Brewery, mountains of chicharrones from 4505 Meats and chicken barbecue pizza from "I dunno, that place on 23rd Street" — the event celebrated the magazine's "Cooks and Chefs" Issue with quirky food-related raffle prizes and a vaguely pornographic film about a dinner party playing on the projector. It was immensely enjoyable and refreshingly unpretentious, to say the least.
