A 53-year-old woman killed her 22-year-old autistic son yesterday in Sunnyvale before turning the gun on herself. Tragically, the bodies of both mother and son were found by the woman's husband when he returned home from work at 7:45 p.m. last night.
The Mercury-News identifies the woman as Elizabeth Hodgins, and her son's name was George.
A neighbor, Heather Jausch, has spoken with the media to say that the woman had talked of feeling "overwhelmed" caring for her son, and that he did not appear to speak much and was very withdrawn.
This all happened on the 800 block of Nectarine Avenue in Sunnyvale.
