Lucky Strike Lanes, the swank SoMa bowling alley scheduled to open next Friday announced a new business partner today: Giants reliever and Hammer pants-wearing Ed Lee shill Brian Wilson. The former lawn gnome model has a thing for bowling it seems, as he said in a Big Lebowski-referencing press release: "I am pumped to be in the Lucky Strike mix ... See you there... The Dude abides." (Obviously, he's not a golfer.) Anyhow, as part owner of the boozy bowling alley, Lane 12 will be re-numbered as Lane 38 in Wilson's honor.
As Grubstreet points out, the SoCal-based Lucky Strike Lanes has a thing for celebrity endorsements. In the past they've hosted parties for Bowleratti like Robin Williams, Ashton Kutcher and Justin Bieber, not to mention that one episode of Entourage when Ari took the family out for a couple games of ten-pin. With or without Wilson's beard attached to the project, expect difficulty getting a spot at the 12-lane Lucky Strike well in to the 2012 baseball season. It's stil a royal pain reserving a lane at Presidio Bowl and Serra Bowl in Daly City just seems so... suburban.
