While it's not as disturbing as Sunday's incident on Julian Avenue or the too-common occurrence on Sixth Street, we are now duty-bound to document the wave of knife-involved crime that has been sweeping the city in 2012. Could this be a result of San Francisco's burgeoning knife culture? Hard to say, really, but last night just before 10 p.m. a teenage victim received life-threatening stab wounds in a dispute over cellular telephone.
The 19-year-old victim apparently met his attacker near the intersection of Eddy and Larkin Streets in the Tenderloin before they headed over to the victim's apartment. There, the two got in to a fight when the victim accused the suspect of stealing his cellphone. A knife was flashed and the victim sustained two stab wounds to his arm and torso before he could escape two blocks down Eddy Street to get help.
The victim was taken to S.F. General to be treated. No word yet on his condition. Meanwhile, cops picked up the 26-year-old suspect in the neighborhood and have taken him in to custody. For now, at least, knife crime justice appears to have been served.
