SFist Tonight, 2/20: Persephone's Bees

MUSIC: Oakland-based quartet, Persephone's Bees, who describe themselves as, "an elephant-sized beehive stuffed with Russ Meyers’ Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Double Fantasy, the poetry of Osip Mandelstam (“Persephone’s Bees” is a phrase from one of his works) and most importantly, life experience," headline Cafe Du Nord tonight, along with special guest Christina Courtin of NYC. (9:30 p.m., The Swedish American Music Halls, 2170 Market Street)

FOOD: Inforum presents a special Meet and Eat with SF's Hottest Culinary Crew, featuring a panel discussion between Brandon Jew and his a few other young and innovative chefs who are putting "a bright spin on San Francisco’s rich culinary tradition with innovative cooking techniques, exotic usage of local products and a lot of individual style." Guests can also opt to buy tickets to the five-course dinner accompanying the event, in which the chefs will be creating a unique course and drink pairings. (7 to 9 p.m., Bar Agricole, 355 Eleventh Street)

STORYTELLING: Tonight's Porchlight line-up will tackle Young Love: "Sweet, romantic, and innocent or awkward, confusing, and misguided. Or sweet and misguided. Or hot and confusing. Awkward and romantic. Doomed? Epic? Come listen to stories of being in love during a time when we were clearly less mature than we are now." (8 p.m., Verdi Club, 2424 Mariposa Street)
