Remember that Mavericks movie that's in production, during the shooting of which actor Gerard Butler kind of almost drowned in December? Well, the crew is back in order to capture more shots of big big waves this week off Steamer Lane and Mavericks, two of the biggest west-northwest swells on the coast.
Alas, no Gerard sightings. But Elisabeth Shue is starring too haven't seen here in a while!
It was a pretty week for shooting, and it sounds like they were mostly just getting B-roll and such surfers walking with their boards, getting ready to jump into 12-foot waves. The film, Of Men and Mavericks, centers around the life of fallen Santa Cruz surfer Jay Moriarty, and is set for release in October. It's directed by Curtis Hanson.
