In addition to the shootings on this side of the Bay last night, three separate shootings in Oakland left one 48-year-old man dead and two others wounded. The fatal incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. Thursday when the identified man was shot and killed while walking down the 800 block of 26th Street in West Oakland. It was the 11th homicide of the year thus far.

An earlier incident in East Oakland, around 6:15 p.m., on the 1200 block of 72nd Avenue, left one man injured but in stable condition.

A third shooting occurred just before 5 a.m. when a man was shot while sitting in his car in the 5900 block of Tevis Street in East Oakland. He was hospitalized but also stable.

At least the murder rate is seeming slightly slower than 2011! According to the Tribune, there were 14 Oakland murders at this time last year.
