Police have closed all lanes in both directions on Highway 85 while they investigate reports of a possible bomb inside of a wrecked vehicle near the junction with Highway 87. The two men driving the vehicle reportedly robbed a bank on Snell Ave, but crashed their getaway car on Highway 85 while making their escape. Both men were arrested when they tried to run, but San Jose Police sent in a pair of bomb robots to check out reports of explosives inside the vehicle.
ABC7 has the live video of the brave little robots, who appear to be poking around the shoulder of the highway for something at the moment. Earlier, they searched the passenger seat of the vehicle.
At least one ABC7 viewer had her stories interrupted by ongoing coverage of the bomb scare:
@abc7newsBayArea please do not interrupt the final week of #ONELIFETOLIVE with anymore breaking news.

Update 3:10 p.m. the bomb squad has sent in the heavy bomb suit guy and attached an orange cable to some sort of suspicious item. Looks like they could be blowing something up at any moment now.
Reports from CHP say Highway 85 could reopen by 4 p.m.
Update 3:20 p.m. And whatever was on the side of the road has since been detonated. For those not watching at home, you missed a nice sized blast mark on the concrete barrier, but thanks to the miracle of modern technology and social media, we have this lovely image of the explosion from NBC Bay Area:
Update 4:05 p.m. Looks like SJPD and CHP still have the highway blocked off, at least on the Northbound side. The most recent estimates say CHP will re-open the Northbound lanes around 5 p.m.
