Approximately 60 Oakland police in riot gear entered Frank Ogawa Plaza around 11:30 p.m. last night and "made several indiscriminate arrests," as KRON4 is reporting. A dozen Occupy Oakland folk were arrested in total after they were marching in front of City Hall in protest of Tuesday's forced removal of their symbolic teepee.
Another dozen or so protesters proceeded to march to the jailhouse a few blocks downtown where they stood outside in solidarity with those arrested.
The city decided to revoke the permit for the erection of the teepee because rules surrounding its nightly removal, and against any nearby fires, had not been obeyed.
