'Tis the season of violent domestic disputes? 22-year-old Felix Rivera of Vallejo was arrested last night for allegedly beating and stabbing his mother, whose name has not been released. The incident occurred at the mother's home in the 300 block of Ebbetts Pass, and Rivera could have potentially injured his mother further had a roommate not intervened, allowing the mother to escape to a neighbor's house and call police.

The mother sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries from a "severe" beating, as well as lacerations and minor stab wounds, according to police.

A motive for the incident is not yet known.

This follows on a similarly violent incident involving a machete inside a San Jose home that left a 65-year-old woman dead over the holiday weekend.
