In a bit of year-end bar news this week, we learn that Peter Osborne, the man behind such crowded Giants pre-game drinking spots as MoMo's, Pete's Tavern and Pedro's Cantina, has plans to expand his King Street empire in to something like a local version of a Dave & Buster's in the coming year.

As Inside Scoop reports this week, Osborne plans to convert the 15,000-square-foot basement below Pedro's and Pete's in to a gaming center with six lanes of bowling (albeit smaller than regulation size), pool tables and other grownup-friendly gaming options. Adding to the "Cancun Spring Break" theme of Pedro's Cantina upstairs, the subterranean space will also boast a mechanical bull for those nights when ballpark revelers need to cap off a Giants win with a good drunken bucking.

Osborne hopes to open up the carnivalesque basement in time for baseball season in the Spring, which ought to give the expensive lanes down the street at Lucky Strike (expected to open in February) some stiff competition right off the bat.

Meanwhile, across China Basin, Osborne will also be taking over Mission Rock Café and it's coveted waterfront patio off of Third Street in 2012. The coveted waterfront drinking space will close January 1, only to bloom again in summer as Mission Rock Brewery and Oyster Bar.
