After an unsuccessful run at the Mayor's office, former District 8 supervisor and Willie Brown staffer Bevan Dufty has a new post with the San Mateo County Transit District. Dufty will be the new interim community relations manager for SamTrans and Caltrain, the Examiner reports today, which means disgruntled southbound commuters should direct their ire and requests for more bike cars to Mr. Dufty.
The gig is only temporary, it seems. Dufty, a self-proclaimed "working guy" expects to work the job until something more permanent comes along. No matter how long he works down in the peninsula (Will Bevan be taking Caltrain to work? Or is this a work-from-home kind of thing? Unclear. Mr. Dufty, please feel free to fill us in on your commuting arrangements.), the job isn't the one many of the other mayoral candidates accused him of fishing for when he made nice with the flip-flopping Mayor Lee. During Lee's interim coronation, many a conspiracy theorist speculated that Bevan's backroom deal with Willie and Gavin more or less guaranteed him a lucrative post in the new (-ish) administration.
