Two people died in separate incidents on Caltrain tracks on Saturday. The incidents occurred within an hour of each other near the California Ave Caltrain Station in Palo Alto and just North of the Menlo Park station, according to a Caltrain spokesperson.
In the first incident, a northbound Baby Bullet train struck an unidentified person around 11:10 a.m. Saturday morning. The second incident happened shortly after, around 12:15 p.m. when a southbound train struck a victim identified as 27-year-old Jayne Cox from Folsom, CA. Caltrain has had 16 deaths so far this year.
In related rail-travel fatalities, an Amtrak Capital Corridor train struck and killed a 47-year-old man from Fremont earlier Saturday morning around 10:20 a.m. Trains were delayed and passengers had to be brought to their final destination by bus.
