Last night around 7 p.m. a 41-year-old man, minding his own business and sitting in a bus shelter at 16th and Mission, got shot in the foot by a stray bullet. He hobbled to 17th Street where he was able to flag down a police officer, and he was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury that nonetheless, we sure, stung like a bitch.

The assailant may have been nabbed by another officer after fleeing the scene, and cops found a handgun near where he was captured, which had been tossed under a vehicle.

This marks the third random shooting in the last six weeks at this lively intersection — three people were shot there on November 4, with two suffering life-threatening injuries; and a 31-year-old bystander, crossing the street at this intersection on October 12, got shot in the thigh by a stray bullet.
