Three cops responding to a call about a knife-wielding man at 24th and York around 1:45 a.m. last night didn't quite make it to the scene when their unmarked blue Ford sedan ran in to a light pole on Potrero Avenue, KTVU reports this morning. Luckily, they were practically outside of San Francisco General already, and all three officers riding in the vehicle were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle, meanwhile, sustained "major damage", but the light pole was totally fine.

SFPD hasn't determined yet what exactly went wrong here, but a spokesman for the department told Bay City News that "sobriety is not considered a factor", but the driver will get tested anyhow. SFPD's Major Accident Investigation Team and the Hit-and-run Detail are sill investigating. Judging by this KTVU photo from the incident, at least one of the injured officers appears to be laughing it off, despite the neck brace.
