Oakland Mayor Jean Quan (a onetime student activist at UC Berkeley herself) talked to KTVU about the effort to recall her. "The last thing we need is a divisive and expensive recall campaign. In 20 years of serving Oakland, my only agenda has been to work hard for our diverse city," Quan said on Monday.
The recall effort was sparked in part by last week's OPD response to an Occupy Oakland protest that resulted in violence and melee care of local law enforcement. Quan, we should point out, is no where near as horrific, if you will, as a mayor as Ron Dellums. This could account for a scat 71 signatures that have appeared on the recall petition, even after Keith Olbermann publicly and loudly demanded her resignation.
The group that filed the petition says Quan has "no rational solution to mitigate the chaos."
