Speaking of vigilante justice (we kid!), two hooligans brutally robbed a man on Wednesday during the rush hour commute on the M-Ocean View. While sitting at his seat and using his iPad, a common occurrence on public transportation during these perfectly moderns days, he was pepper-sprayed and robbed.
"The 26-year-old victim was approached by a suspect who grabbed the iPad out of his hands. Then a second suspect approached and sprayed him in the face with the pepper spray and grabbed his cellphone," reports Bay City News (via Oakland Tribune). "The suspects, described only as men in their early 20s, then fled from the Muni vehicle and had not been found as of this morning."
That's terrible. Obviously. But we have nothing but respect and admiration for Muni passengers who quietly keep to themselves. Not that we're saying there are people who deserve a blast of cayenne pepper to the face and have their belongings ripped from their body--perish the thought--but this is just cold. Glacial, in fact. Perhaps Muni could install cameras on trains and buses in order to records these kinds of crimes? Oh wait.
Anyway, tips about last night's robbery can be directed to the SF Police Department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
