Just when we were on a roll with sub-three hour meetings, the Board had to go and put a teeth-gnashing public hearing on youth housing smack in the middle of yesterday's agenda. Final runtime on Tuesday's meeting: 7 hours. Ouch. Anyhow, might as well get to it:

Mark Farrell's addition of reality TV shows and documentary films to the Film Fees and Rebates program finally passed, as did Ross Mirkarimi's Postrelease Community Supervision plan to shepherd released state prisoners back in to normal society. Hey, that sounds like a reality show pitch right there. It's like Real Housewives meets Lockdown. We'll call it the Real Parolees of San Francisco and it will be great. Ross, Mark - let's make this happen, we're counting on you.

Roughly $1.3 million dollars were spent settling lawsuits this week. That's always nice to see.

Ross "Might as well call me Sheriff" Mirkarimi also got his handgun-neutering legislation finally passed. His anti-weaponry speech included a shoutout to the many injured sea lions of the Bay Area. +1 to Ross Mirkarimi, the one supervisor who is not afraid to stick up for the pinnipeds.

And for the gun owners: it's time to start putting your Glock 18 in a safe. Otherwise, go pick up a trigger lock for your armaments. Also, the sale of hollow point bullets is now prohibited in the city. So, the one gunshop that's still here will have to stop carrying them, we guess.

In our first controversial vote of the day, Mark Farrell has been waiting to get his caps on public campaign financing passed in light of lawsuits that have be brought against a similar program in Arizona. Farrell's legislation needed eight votes to pass. It got six, with Mirkarimi, Campos, Kim, Mar and Avalos (a candidate receiving public financing, remember) all opposing. And now we're probably gonna get sued. (Not really, Jane Kim introduced very similar legislation. We'll be fine! Jane's on it!)

We'd like to commend Malia Cohen for taking care of those vaguely creepy limited service pregnancy centers and their misleading advertising, but that ordinance was delayed until the next meeting, so we'll just give her a +1 for that delightful flower on her dress. More flair in the Board Chambers please, everyone.

After a few quiet months from Supervisor Campos, the man finally stuck up for the HealthySF program with a lengthy speech about costs of health care in the city is. "God forbid you get kidney stones or a urinary tract infection," Campos said, "that's $40,000." 40 grand? Yeah, that's going to hurt more than... well, more than passing a kidney stone. +1 to David Campos. Now pass the cranberry juice, would ya, Supervisor?

The longest (and most frustrating) item of the day was an appeal attempting to block the conversion of the Edward II hotel in the Marina to affordable housing for transitional aged youth. Ignoring the truly obnoxious comments from Marina neighbors who are absolutely positive that the building will soon be full of deplorable teens terrorizing (terrorizing!) the neighborhood, the interaction between Supervisor Wiener and the Appellant was actually a pleasure to watch. Our bespectacled appellant attempted to argue that the project was illegal because the city already committed funds to it before the environmental review was completed, Supervisor Wiener (an outspoken proponent of transitional youth housing) dropped some nuggets of logic on him, invalidated the appellant's entire argument on the basis that it frankly didn't make any sense. +1 to Scott Wiener. We knew that J.D. wasn't just for covering your ass.

Three hours of public hearing and comments from the peanut gallery later and ta-da: it's 11 p.m. and the meeting is finally over. In case you were wondering (like us) when these guys have time to go to the bathroom, the official meeting minutes [PDF] have helpfully laid those out. Eric Mar wins the prize for longest bathroom break at 1 hour and 16 minutes. With that much time we assume he must have run all the way home to the Richmond to do his business.

And with that, here's your moment of Kim!
