Bernal Heights / Murder: A man in his 20s was shot in the head in his own home on the 400 block of Franconia Street, just west of Highway 101, shortly before 9:40 p.m. last night. SoMa / Stabbing: A 25-year-old man was stabbed on the 600 block of Howard Street after an altercation with five or six other men in their 20s early Saturday. The fight broke out in a club on the 600 block of Mission (which may or may not have been Fluid Ultra-Lounge), and spilled down the street to Howard, where the guy was found stabbed at 2 a.m. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Palo Alto / Mugging: A woman was mugged Saturday around noon, while jogging, by a "malodorous and hirsute" man in his 40s who may have been African American and Latino. The woman reports he had very hairy knuckles, arms, and legs, and smelled terrible. [Tribune]

East Palo Alto / Car Chase / Crack Smoking: A fatal car chase that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist involved a driver who decided to light up a crack pipe while speeding down residential streets at 70 mph. Eric Banford, 46, is facing murder charges after he fled from cops who were trying to question him about a burglary. With a passenger in the car, Banford allegedly lit up a crack pipe while leading police on a lengthy chase last Wednesday, which ended at University Avenue and Bay Road, where 50-year-old motorcyclist Danny Dixon was struck and killed.
