Mission / Mid-Market: Two women, aged 26 and 23, were robbed and pistol-whipped early Thursday after one stepped out of their hotel room around 2 a.m., at the Travelodge at Market and Valencia. A masked man in a hoodie bound the one woman's hands and brought her back to her hotel room, where he pistol-whipped the other, and made off with cash, cell phones, and a Mac laptop. Police say the crime will be difficult to solve given the vague description of the suspect, who was masked. [Examiner]
East Oakland / Fatal Shooting: A possibly armed man who fled from cops after being pulled over along with another suspect, was shot and killed after fleeing from officers Sunday afternoon on the 9900 block of Cherry Street. Officers struggled with the man, and a loaded weapon was found at the scene. The other suspect, who had been driving the vehicle, fled and has not been found. [Tribune]
Corralitos / Wild Fire: A fire broke out Friday in the grasslands in Corralitos, east of Santa Cruz, during Hoopcamp, an annual retreat of Hula-Hoop enthusiasts that wrapped up yesterday.
