It’s Friday afternoon (YAY!), which means there’s less than 48 hours before the 49ers meet the Bengals in Cincinnati. Remember when the Niners played Cincinnati in the Super Bowl and beat them? TWICE? Yeah, no one cares about that this in this matchup. But still. Fun to remember Ah, the glory days
But, BACK TO REALITY: It’s 2011 and the 49ers haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 90s and frankly aren’t good enough to win one this year, either, but they do have a chance to win their division and lose brutally in the playoffs and doesn’t that seem like it would be so much fun?
But to win the NFC West, they need to win games. Like the one on Sunday. Against Cincinnati. Which is totally do-able. When you think about the following:
- Dashon Goldson (safety) is back. Remember San Francisco’s secondary against Dallas last Sunday? Well wipe away those tears because having Goldson back in the line-up is sure to help.
- Plus, Shawntae Spencer (safety) should see more action and that is also a good thing. (Say his first name aloud. It’s so fun to say, right? Okay, now stop doing that and start thinking about football again. Thank you.)
- Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton is doing perfectly fine thus far. (3 TDs, 0 INTS, whatever.) He’s still a rookie though and, fingers crossed, has to make some stupid mistakes eventually. Hopefully, eventually is this Sunday.
- Patrick Willis. That is all.
- Alex Smith. Hahahaha. NO SERIOUSLY. Okay, not super seriously, but you have to admit, he looks different (better?), more confident (seriously?) on the field. Nevermind that pesky concussion; he’s tough. Ish.
Crap. The 49ers might lose. Or they might win! Any given Sunday and whatnot And the Ravens will beat St. Louis and Arizona could choke against Seattle (no one believes that last part). GO NINERS!
49ers take on at Cincinnati 10 a.m. this Sunday on FOX 2.
