The mood in the parking lot at Candlestick Park again turned violent this past Sunday after the Niners handed over their 27-24 loss to the Cowboys. SFPD Officers responding to reports of a fight in the parking lot arrived to find three assault victims - including one security guard - all suffering from painful head injuries. According to investigators, the fight broke out when the first victim would not allow the three suspects to back their vehicle out of a parking space.
During the ensuing argument, the first victim was hit in the head with a flashlight and a water bottle. A friend who tried to intervene also received a punch to the head. The security guard who also witnessed the attack became a victim as well when he tried to put a stop to the fight.
All three victims were released form the hospital later that day and SFPD made three arrests in the parking lot scuffle. Meanwhile, a search of the suspects' vehicle turned up a pistol tucked away in the center console.
No word yet on whether or not the victims and the perpetrators were Niners or Cowboys fans. The incident occurred despite SFPD's beefed-up foot patrols that have been in place since that violent preseason exhibition game against the Raiders.
