Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Supreme Court's oldest justice at age 78, rode an airplane emergency slide to safety earlier today when her SFO-bound flight experienced some harrowing engine trouble on the tarmac at Washington-Dulles International Airport. According to AP reports, the pilot of United Flight 586 noticed engine trouble while taxiing and immediately called for an evacuation.

According to Jodi Gersh, a Gannett Media-employed Social Media Manager who happened to be on the plane and livetweeted the whole thing, smoke was seen coming from the rear of the aircraft just before flight crews hurried everyone off of the aircraft. A few folks suffered minor injuries while deboarding the quick way, but a spokesperson for the Supreme Court told the press that Justice Ginsburg, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2009, made it off just fine.

Passengers were later allowed back on the plane to pick up their carry-ons before boarding another aircraft for SFO shortly after. CBS San Francisco, has the video report:
