Cops evicting squatters from an abandoned building on Geary Street earlier this week had to make do without the canine unit after it was, "deemed unsafe due to the large amounts of blood, feces and discarded needles" found inside. According to the Examiner, cops entering the building were greeted with an "overwhelming" lunch-tossing scent of urine and feces, as well as "a swarm of flies in the air" while they evicted a dozen people in the building and arrested three more on prior warrants.

Meanwhile, the local eyes in the neighborhood inform us that the building with the offending odor was 655 Geary, which actually looks kind of nicely sun-drenched on Street View, but has been vacant for at least a few years. Although the building has apparently been a source of constant complaints according to SFPD, eyewitness reports of thugs entering the building and barricading the door appear to have met with some degree of indifference by the authorities until the owner of the building finally requested the cops come evict the squatters Tuesday morning.
