SFist Tonight, 8/24: Pete Escovedo, SF Cocktail Week Preview Party, Drink Good Do Good Carnival

MUSIC/ART:The Mission Cultural Center for the Arts presents Talking Art and Music with Pete Escovedo, in which Escovedo will talk about his esteemed musical career and his lifelong interest in the visual arts with radio personality Sterling James (often heard on KBLX). (6 p.m., Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, 2868 Mission Street)

COCKTAILS: Enjoy some refreshing farmers market cocktails at the SF Cocktail Week Preview Party, featuring the summer's best produce, including peaches, plums, pluots, blackberries, to heirloom apples and tomatoes, peppers, fennel, and more, served up by some prominent local bartenders. (5:30 to 8 p.m., CUESA kitchen at the Ferry Building)

BENEFIT: Speaking of drinking, the Do Good Coalition is hosting a Drink Good Do Good Carnival, to benefit the LGBT education programs of HRC Foundation and the Bay Times, featuring food tastings, photo-kissing booth, ping-pong shots, and raffle prizes sponsored by Pinkspots. (7 to 11 p.m., Gingerfruit, 2029 Market Street)
