As you know, several volunteers from the Bay Area Derby Girls were robbed at gunpoint last month, and lost a large chunk of change that would have otherwise gone towards organizing future bouts for the nonprofit derby league. To help the girls get back on their skates, the gang from skateboard rag Lowcard are hosting a night of drinking, dancing and various forms of wheel-based entertainment. Observe:

The benefit, which happens this Friday at Club 6 in SoMa, will be taking full advantage of the space at the appropriately gritty downtown club with a skate session and best trick competition, followed by live Derby Girl bouts so those of you who haven't had the pleasure of experiencing the roller derby can see what exactly you're supporting with your 2-for-1 cocktails and $3 tallboys.

San Francisco's own psych-thrash band Hightower will jam out the live music, while DJs Pony P and Richie Panic pivot between the pre-recorded stuff and skate videos. Pop over to LowSF for the full rundown.
