Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting is the last before the gang takes a month-long recess. It's like the last day of school before summer! Only with less signing of yearbooks and more passing of ordinances. Here are the items we're actually interested in:
Item 11: Limited Live Performance Permits - Continued from last week, creates a new level of entertainment permit for "indoor locales whose primary function is not presentation of live performances." The new permit sets limits on noise levels and hours or performances, but doesn't require venues to provide security. So when the cafe down the street wants to host flamenco guitar sessions, they don't also have to hire a bouncer.
Item 12: Inner Richmond neighborhood controls - a.k.a. the PetCo ban. It just needs a final vote to go through.
Item 15: Minimum Wage enforcement - the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement is cracking down on minimum wage and clarifying policies for resolving employee complaints.
Item 23: $44 Million for SFPark Pilot Project - doubles the funding for the SFPark program to bring the total spend up to $44 million. The funds will be used to expand the program and do some education & marketing around the project.
Item 27: Extending time to consider redevelopment - gives the Board another month to think about taking over redevelopment duties from the state. New deadline would be November 1st, 2011.
Item 47: Board response to the Civil Grand Jury's report "The Parkmerced: Government by Developer" - The Civil Grand Jury is a fickle beast. The particular one that wrote this report doesn't seem to fond of Sean Elsbernd's pet development. We, frankly, can't wait to hear the board's response.
Items 50, 51: Liquor license transfers - Item 50 allows City Beer Store at 1168 Folsom to expand and, presumably, have more room for beer. Item 51 moves the KoKo Cocktails' liquor license around the corner so the much-loved bar can be reborn as the Hi Lo Club.
Item 59: Salvadoran's Day, August 6, 2011 - Everyone should be celebrating our friends from El Salvador this weekend. Hopefully by enjoying pupusas rather than gang activity.
Item 62: Terminating Agreements between SFPD and ICE - A resolution urging Gov. Brown to end the "Secure Communities" program that allows for collaboration between police and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
Planning Code update: Establishing standards for bird-safe buldings - would amend the planning code to establish standards that make San Francisco's building's safer for birds.
Developments and Public Hearings: A couple of condo developments are scheduled to get public hearings to determine whether or not they should be exempt from an environmental review.
- 1945 Hyde - Converting a parking garage at 1945 Hyde Street in Nob Hill to a condo development.
- 1621 Montgomery Street - a 4 unit commercial condo subdivision on the Northeast Waterfront
- 1171 Sansome
