Criminal charges brought against Deshon Marman, the University of New Mexico football player and San Francisco native pulled off a U.S. Airways flight during a scuffle over his saggy pants, have been dropped by the San Mateo County District Attorney's office this morning. According to DA Steve Wagstaffe, the criminal charges were unnecessary "in light of all the circumstances surrounding the incident." The announcement comes after a group of protestors including Marman's family, representatives from civil rights groups and a San Francisco supervisor gathered on the steps of City Hall yesterday to protest the incident.

Protesters at the rally yesterday weren't defending anyone's fashion choices, but some did point out the inconsistencies in U.S. Airway's dress code. Rev. Amos Brown of the NAACP told the crowd, "You say you want the pants pulled up? We say, pull up justice in America." Likewise, the incident prompted Bayview/Hunters Point Supervisor Malia Cohen to introduce new legislation at yesterday's board meeting. Cohen's resolution called for authorities to dismiss the case and for the FAA to look in to how the airline handled the whole thing. Outside of the board meeting, Cohen called the whole situation "bullshit", which: +1 Malia Cohen.

In an interview with ABC7 last night, Marman was "ecstatic" that the charges would be dropped and wished to make sure everyone from his flight knew he was sorry for the delays.
