HIGH: Noted ginger/chef wunderkind Thomas McNaughton will host a series of Wild Boar dinners at flour + water. Thomas' menus will focus on using the whole animal and "a connection to the most fundamental of old world practices." Deep. What's more, he will use loads of summer goods (e.g., summer squash, cucumbers, strawberries and other fruits like figs and melon) in his dishes. If you've never ate McNaughton, so to speak, now's your chance. The price tag is well worth the dent to your wallet. (If you can't afford it, however, simply head to flour + water for the less expensive a la carte fare.) The five-course dinner, with wine pairings, will cost $200 per person, inclusive of wine, tax, and gratuity.
LOW: This Sunday at Coffee Bar (1890 Bryant), a BBQ rib competition will go down... your throat. And you must help decide the winner! A scant $20 scores you 4 tokens good for four portions of BBQ side ribs, a signature side dish from each vendor, and a tall cup of Lagunitas beer (or house wine, if you're gonna be like that). One token will go toward voting voting for your favorite rib. May the winner be victorious, the losers humiliated in defeat.
