ART: The San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery presents Aftermath, celebrating the launch of Bay Area artist Ernest Jolly's new installation, Natural Reaction. The event, which was inspired by recent natural disasters and those who have survived, will feature performances by cellist and multimedia artist Chris Evans and members of the modern dance company, ahdanco, outside on the sidewalk under the night sky, incorporating elements such as water, wind, sound and light. (7 p.m., 155 Grove Street, SFAC Window Installation Site)

MUSIC: Raul Sanchez celebrates the sixth anniversary of his monthly live music showcase Penny Arcade, featuring local and touring indie, rock, psychedelic, folk and pop acts. Tons of great bands have made their rounds through the Penny Arcade, and tonight's line-up includes Skystone, Forever Goldrush, Pat Parra (album release), and Will Sprott (of the Mumlers). Check out Raul's SFist interview from a few years ago. (8 p.m., The Make Out Room, 3225 22nd Street)

LITERARY: Experience the Conservatory of Flowers' eerie Wicked Plants exhibit tonight while spending an evening with author Amy Stewart, whose book, Wicked Plants: The Weed that Killed Lincoln’s Mother + Other Botanical Atrocities, inspired the exhibition. Stewart will give a slideshow and lecture highlighting fascinating tales of "botanical rogues and assassins." (6:30 to 8, Conservatory of Flowers, 100 John F. Kennedy Drive, Golden Gate Park)
