We're hearing word that somebody drove a car into two pedestrians outside DNA Lounge after Trannyshack on Sunday night. One bystander at the scene told SFist that "[t]he driver just took off. Lots of sirens and ambulances. No idea what the victims' condition is or whether they caught the driver." We spoke to a DNA Lounge manager who told us that, as of Tuesday afternoon, they knew as much as we did.
SFist contacted SFPD for more details. We'll update as soon as we know more.
That said, the area around 11th between Harrison and Howard -- which is and will always remain a nightlife hotspot, period -- could use more safe places for clubbers once the bars and venues close. In the Castro you've got a plaza, 24-hour diners, and places to sit to wait for cabs. The same goes for North Beach and, more or less, the Mission. Sure, the food trucks work, but that's just a start. When tipsy revelers stumble out of the clubs with no place to safely roam, things can and often do get ugly. That stretch of Eleventh Street is like a busy highway once the party stops.
