A 28-year-old Yemeni man named Rageit (or Rageh?) Almurisi was aboard an American Airlines flight from Chicago to SFO when he walked briskly out of coach, through first class, and began banging on the cockpit door and screaming something than no one could understand. He ultimately had to be subdued by crew members and three passengers who volunteered for the job, including a retired U.S. Secret Service agent and retired San Mateo cop. Almurisi has no known terrorist affiliations, was carrying no weapons, and he's now under arrest.
Says an American Airlines spokesperson: "The characterization we got (was that) he was screaming wildly in some mideastern or southeastern Asian language. Unfortunately we don't know what he said." Because he was in possession of a Yemeni passport, we're going to guess here that he was speaking Arabic, but anyway. [Examiner, Appeal]
